New York Youth Asian Heritage Music Orchestra (NY-YAHMO)
紐約青少年亞洲傳統音樂樂團​

Music is a unique artistic ability of human beings, and it is also one of the best ways to improve one's mood and nourish one's character. Learning music can train young people to enlighten and control their eyes, ears, and mind. In music, children will also learn how to enhance their listening skills. By collaborating and playing together with others, they can achieve musical effects that cannot be achieved alone and can experience the beauty of music.

The ensemble's mission is to:
  • Pass on the skills and culture of playing heritage musical instruments
  • Cultivate young people's understanding of the historical evolution of music and support future artistic integration and innovation
  • Foster young people's self-sufficiency, teamwork, and musical appreciation ​
音樂是一種人類特有的藝術能力，也是一種怡情養性的最佳方法。音樂學習可以訓練青少年們對眼耳身心的啓滌和控制能力。在音樂中，小朋友也會學著如何仔細傾聽別人的聲音，如果彼此配合以達成個人無法成就的音樂效果，進而感受到音樂之美。

Program
計劃​​

Eligible participants: young students and beginners over 8 years old
Class time: Sundays 10am - 12pm (small group classes are scheduled for: 7/21, 7/28, 8/4, 8/11, 8/18, 8/25)
Location: 132-29 Blossom Ave, Flushing, New York City (near the Queens Botanical Garden)
Instruments: dizi, pipa, erhu, yangqin, liuqin, guzheng, ruan, cello, percussion, etc.

The program consists of 6 weekly group training sessions, each lasting 2 hours. Each session includes small group lessons for each instrument and practicing together as an ensemble. The instructors are professional musicians from the Chinese Music Ensemble of New York. The final session is a recital performance.

The summer special registration fee is $200 for 6 weeks.
招生對象：8 歲以上少年學員和初學者
上課時間：週日 10am - 12pm (暑期夏令學小團體班，以下六個周日：​7/21, 7/28, 8/4, 8/11, 8/18, 8/25)
上課地點：132-29 Blossom Ave, Flushing, New York City (靠近 Queens Botanical Garden)
樂器種類：笛子，琵琶，二胡，揚琴，柳琴，古箏，阮, 大提琴, 鼓，等等

每一期以 6 次團訓為組織原則。每一次 2 個鐘頭。每一次團訓以各別小組樂器，和樂團小合奏組成。師資是紐約中國民族樂團的專業音樂家。最後次即為成果發表會。

夏令營特價： 6 周，收費為 $200。

For all of the above musical instruments, the NY-YAHMO program accepts 5-10 students in each cohort. If the limit is reached for a particular instrument, students must wait until the next application cycle. Classes will start once there are 3 or more students enrolled.
